Setting Up Nameservers

This page breaks down how to connect your domain name to your new hosting panel. This is a basic technical outline - you can check sub-pages for registrar specific guides.

Connecting a domain name to a hosting cPanel through nameservers is a crucial step for your website to function properly. Follow the steps below to properly connect your domain and hosting:

Access your registrar DNS/nameserver System

The first thing you'll need to do is log into your registrar and access the domain name's DNS. This is usually the section where a nameserver option can be located. However, some registrars keep the nameserver section completely separate (Consult registrar specific guides if needed).

Changing your nameservers

The next step is to point your domain to updating solutions nameservers:

ns1.updatingsolutions.net
ns2.updatingsolutions.net

Once you've set nameserver 1 and 2 correctly, you can then save or apply the changes.

DNS Propagation

DNS propagation refers to the time it takes for updated DNS (Domain Name System) information to be distributed across the internet. When you connect a domain to a new hosting provider by updating nameservers, these changes need to be recognized by servers globally. This process ensures that when someone enters your domain into a web browser, they are directed to the correct server where your website is hosted.

The duration of DNS propagation can vary. In some cases, it can be very quick, taking just a few minutes. However, at other times, it may be slower, taking up to 48 hours. The variability is due to the decentralized nature of the DNS system and the time it takes for updated information to be disseminated to servers worldwide. During this period, users may experience inconsistency in accessing your website, as some will be directed to the old server while others are directed to the new one. It's important to be patient and allow time for the changes to take effect globally. You can check if your nameservers have swapped over with tools like DNS Checker or What is my DNS.

Accessing the cPanel

Once DNS propagation has completed you can now access your hosting panel. If your nameservers are properly setup, you will be able to access the cPanel login at ANY of the following URLs (Be aware that you should replace example.com with your primary domain name):

You can now enter you provided login information and begin exploring your hosting panel!
